Mobile Bill Limits – reducing the chances of bill shock!

From 1 October 2018, mobile phone providers will be obliged to offer mobile bill limits to their customers.

Section 124S of the Communications Act 2003, which comes into force on 1 October 2018, requires providers of mobile phone services to offer customers the ability to cap the cost of their bill and to notify customers when the limit is about to be reached. This will be available to all those taking out or renewing a mobile contract on or after 1 October 2018.

Providers of mobile services will have to let their customer’s cap their monthly usage bill to stop them being hit with unexpected charges for going outside their allowance, after the new legislation comes into place.

Anthony Temperton of KAT says “At KAT we have always given our mobile customers the ability to stipulate spend limits across all their devices in order to prevent bill shock. However this new legislation if long overdue as we are aware of many companies who have been hit with unexpected charges typically for data use. It is good to see the industry is getting its act together and putting customers before profits.”

For more information on the mobile spend limits please speak with your existing mobile provider or contact the KAT Communications team on enquiries@katcommunications.co.uk or via 01302 260195
