iOS8 Update

At Knowledge About Telecoms we’re always keen to keep you up to date with what’s happening out there in our industry, so we wanted to make you aware that next week we’re expecting Apple to launch an update (iOS8) for their mobile devices.

Last year, downloads of the latest iOS update caused Internet traffic in the UK to double and we are expecting similar issues on this occasion:

We would like to reassure all of our customers that our connectivity partners will be proactively managing their networks to minimise the impact of this increased traffic; however, we do still anticipate an impact to our customers as we expect speeds to be slower than normal for a couple of days after the release. The actual day of the release hasn’t yet been confirmed by Apple, however the industry expects the update to be launched on 10 September 2014.

We will do everything we can to support this situation and hopefully this advance notice will allow you to circulate this information to your staff so you are prepared internally.
