Gigabit Voucher Scheme to come to an end
The success of the current Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme (GBVS) over the past two years has enabled small businesses to take advantage of the benefits of full fibre broadband across the UK.
To date, almost 10,200 vouchers have been claimed, committing £58m of the available £67.8m fund. In addition to the committed £58m, there is a pipeline of projects with a value in excess of £20m – which are currently uncommitted and pending review.
What this means
With this in mind, KAT Communications will no longer be accepting Gigabit Voucher Scheme orders after close of business on Wednesday, 26 February 2020. We will continue to expedite, on your behalf, vouchers which are currently in progress through the scheme.
Have I really missed out?
We would say not, The Gigabit voucher scheme was set up to cover the install costs of installing Gigabit broadband but these install costs are waived on a 3 year Gigabit leased line agreement. Also with the roll out of more affordable full fibre broadband there are now more options for smaller businesses.
Typically the winners of the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme have been a number of telecom providers who have claimed for multiple businesses sharing the same Gigabit leased line.
