Lone Worker Protection

Provide, protect, prevent.
Reasons for a lone worker protection system?
More than six million people in the UK work in isolation or without direct supervision
Working alone can create health and safety risks. If you employ lone workers, or are self-employed and work alone, these risks will need to be managed.
Under the Corporate Homicide and Manslaughter Act introduced in April 2008 and the Health & Safety (Offences) Act 2008, employers are responsible for the security of their workforce.
Employers have a duty of care with their employees. They must assess possible risks to lone workers and take steps to avoid or control these risks where necessary.
These responsibilities cannot be transferred to any other person.
What are the penalties?
Not having the right lone worker protection can have legal consequences, including fines of £20,000 or more, or up to 2 years imprisonment.
Dangerous working conditions can have other negative effects on the business too, such as recurring staff absences, physical harm and injury, lower productivity and bad publicity.
Procedures must be put in place to monitor lone workers to help keep them healthy and safe.

- Lone workers can manage their own safety more effectively.
- Helps prevent dangerous or problematic situations occurring or escalating, benefitting both the lone worker and their employer.
You’re in safe hands
Our partner’s state-of-the-art Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), is accredited to BS 5979 Cat II, they are also one of the first providers to be accredited to the new BS8484 standard.
How does it work?
- Our lone worker solution combines a small application that can be installed on many mobile phones, PDA’s, BlackBerry® or Symbian smartphones, backed up by a dedicated team of operators.
- A lone worker in distress simply presses a pre-assigned button on their mobile to open a two-way voice channel to the 24/7 response centre.
- All calls are digitally recorded, the worker’s position is obtained using network location technology or GPS if it is enabled and strict pre-agreed emergency protocols are followed.
